A Pascal/Delphi programmer and database freak at heart, I work as a C# developer on line-of-business applications (mostly ASP.NET).
I'm interested mostly in distributed systems (WCF), database (design and SQL), and Active Directory.
I'm an MCPD .NET 4 Web Developer, MCPD .NET 4 Windows Developer, MCPD Enterprise Application Developer (.NET 3.5), and MCTS for WCF, ADO.NET, Winforms and ASP.NET.

“Recovering” disk from a Windows Home Server @BradPatton: tried it just now - downloaded it and ran it, works fine - but can't seem to see the disk that is in a USB-connected cradle .... so I cannot really say whether it would be able to do anything useful with it.... |

Windows 8 Installation Issue Ah - I am using the Win8 RTM Trial version - and I just couldn't get it to work in Oracle VirtualBox, had to use VMWare Workstation 9 instead. Works like a charm there! THanks. |

Windows 7 x64 CD to MP3 ripper Well, I tried to configure it to put the resulting MP3 into my directory structure (not the usual "My Music" or whatever), and I tried to tell it to use subdirectories for artist and album - couldn't do it. In the end, when trying it out - WMP did use that convention - but it wasn't "visible" or discoverable in the UI. What if I'd like to change it?? I can define the resulting MP3 file name - but I cannot seem to define where exactly to store the output.... also, the whole UI feels clunky and overloaded and way too complicated ...... |

Keyboard in Oracle VirtualBox Guest OS is Win7 - and it is configured for Swiss-German keyboard - but inside VirtualBox, some keys are strangely remapped and don't work properly - the backslash just being the most annoying of those... |

What the heck have I done to my Excel sheet (and how to undo it)? Attempt #2 - solved it! The workbook was shared, for some weird reason. Once I've removed the sharing, I was able to uncheck that "Protect Structure and Windows" option and that solved it - thanks so much !! |
