comment Emacs - Disable Some Minibuffer Messages
Sorry, but would you be able to help me on how I can search for these error messages? At this point, it almost feels like it's more trouble disabling the messages than there is from keeping them.

comment Finite looping a video file in quicktime or MP4 container and keeping file size down to single loop original size?
I did a quick Google, and it looks like Quicktime Pro does have a "Loop" option, though it looked like it means indefinitely. I think what you may want is a script that constantly replays the video until a loop terminates. I think you might be able to do this using AppleScript, it might be worth taking a look.

Unfortunately, chances are you won't be able to do what you're asking. The exception would be, as you said, if you are able to specify repetition within the player or the format itself, which sounds unlikely. If you want to actually create a new, full video of all 100 repetitions with the original quality, then the result will have a filesize ~100x larger than the original.

comment Underlying Concept Behind Keyboard Mappings
I don't use Vim or Mac, but if your Vim configuration includes keybindings (such as Home,End,etc.), you will need to make sure that inputs from both types of terminal are accounted for. Running just cat (Ctrl-C to terminate) and typing the key combinations might help you in viewing the differences in how both terminals see the keys.

comment Booting CD in laptop with or without HDD
To clarify: If she can boot from CD fine, but booting or reinstalling an OS isn't working, it sounds like the hard drive is the problem. Can she try connecting the hard drive to another computer (using something like SATA-to-USB) and format that way? If something goes wrong there, you can be fairly certain it is a hard drive related problem.

comment Running pacman in arch bang
I know what you mean about the lack of time, but once you have a good amount of free time, it's worth the work, and helps you learn how to fix problems like this. Have you set the shell variable http_proxy? Like this: su && export http_proxy=http://123.45.67.89:12345/ && pacman -Syy. It looks like wget reads this variable, and you can use wget with pacman.

I don't have enough reputation to comment and ask you if you've uncommented any repositories in /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist, but that looks to me like what's happening. Have you uncommented some repos in the mirrorlist file?

comment userContent.css - GMail Compose Same Color as “about:blank”
@vasa1 The about:blank background stuff won't work without url-prefix. I tried domain and others, but url-prefix was it for about-blank. In general though, I think it's supposed to be domain, but it didn't help my problem. Also, here's a picture demonstrating what happens: s10.postimg.org/wfq5j81xj/user_Content_behavior.png

comment Network Problems of Ethernet?
That's what I assumed was the most likely case, but I wonder how that becomes an issue for the network people. I'm not familiar enough with ethernet networking to know if it's hardware dependent, like if the unexpected hardware of the laptop was causing issues or something.

Sorry about that, for the lab computers we did use ethernet, and for laptops we were required to use wireless. I briefly mentioned the ethernet on the lab computers but I'll update it to clarify. The whole thing was they didn't want us plugging in with laptops.
