there is no "public" address. there's one in the vpn, and one in the company-lan. i'd rather access the server via a name, but if re-routing one of the ips works, i'll go with that.

i can only reach some of the servers via a vpn-ip-address when i'm connected over vpn. When i'm directly connected to the network those ips are not available (and vice versa). There is no DNS service that would help me here.

thank you for taking the time and answer this question even if it's kind of old. I've changed the setup in the meantime and now the xbox has a cable connection to a switch.

sry for the long delay - there's no power issue with the laptop network connection. there's at least some twitter client running all the time. i've tried de- and re-activating the connection, but it doesn't help :(
