I'm an applied mathematician & engineer, living & working just outside the London metro area.

Over the years and on both sides of the Atlantic, I've led a variety of quantitative & operational challenges across intelligent systems & software engineering, sonar, defense, environmental technology, robotics, and most recently the complex world of multi-channel retail.

The common thread that links passion, profession, and play is applying technology, good design, and quantitative modelling and simulation, to build better products, enable better decisions, and optimise performance.

I'm always experimenting and tinkering, so feel free to get in touch with ideas.

This answer was factually incorrect as written (as pointed out in comments). harrymc eventually provided an update in comments. Am bringing it into the main answer.

There is an excellent macro recorder from Pulover, that is free, fully GUI run, easy to use, configurable, and best of all, captures the recorded macros in the AHK (autohotkey) language so that they can, if desired, be integrated later into an autohotkey script. You can find it here: macrocreator.com

@harrymc: Have you seen Pulover's Macro Creator? That is a standalone program, fully GUI based, automatable, records, and best of all, captures the recorded macros in the AHK language which can be exported for use within AHK. I think this is probably the better option. Check it out here superuser.com/a/420824/153054 and here: macrocreator.com/download

(+1) - with donation. Thanks for your brilliant work on the Macro Recorder. I was looking for something like this, came across yours, and in a few minutes was able to automate something that would have taken a few hours of tedious effort. Best part is that it was easy to figure out without reading any tutorials -- just a little trial and error. Thanks.

@harrymc: helpful tools such as? Please do elaborate in your answer since as it currently is stated, it's false: AHK does not have macro recorder capabilities. So I'm inclined to agree with Annan.

But interestingly, Jitbit and AutoMacroRecorder are not on the Wikipedia list --- suspect the list is in its earliest stages of being compiled.

Great answer! I've taken the liberty to try to improve it a bit by adding a link and formatting the post.
