I'm a Software Developer with experience in (among other things) Java, Eclipse, Crystal Reports, Amazon-AWS (DynamoDB, SWF, S3, SQS, SNS), Javascript, SQL, Ruby/Rails, iOS/Objective-C.

I'm also

  • into music from Abba to ZZ Top (and everything in between), and
  • a strategy game lover
  • profile for Chris on Stack Exchange, a network of free, community-driven Q&A sites

I also have super powers, but that's a secret.

comment configuring synergy with dual monitor server on top of single monitor client
Honestly I didn't really configure them - I plugged them in and they just worked. There is an onboard VGA and DisplayPort, so I plugged one monitor into each and they appeared properly in Display settings (System Settings --> Displays through the UI). I'm using Ubuntu 12.04. How can I tell which of those configurations my system decided to use?

@Malvineous - would you be able to help me on my other question (linked above)? I've tried using the display arg as above but synergy.conf chokes on the extra colons...

@Malvineous - can you provide some details on how to do that? I'm having a similar problem and am not sure how to refer to multiple screens (with colons?) in my synergy.conf file.

Leaving it running a task while travelling? I wouldn't even consider this unless you're using an SSD hard disk. Regular hard disks are very susceptible to shock when they're not running; even more so while they're spinning and reading/writing data.

+1 for multiple options and the note about old players simply not being able to handle it
