@sammyg sadly I can't check this anymore, since I've long since upgraded the relevant parts. But yes, it didn't sound right to me either

@dillmo could you post your own solution as an answer instead of including it into the question?

@BenjaminHorowitz have a look at Anaconda, its a Python distribution by Continuum that comes with most important scientific libraries included and you can install others through pip.

comment How can I measure my computer temperature?
Doesn't this require a bunch of extra hardware, like an Arduino to actually measure the output of the thermistor? Also, you might want to add some more explanation on what it really does and how it could be used

comment How to easily write a website using a text editor and version control?
Your question is very open ended, you could achieve your goal with dozens of programming languages, a multitude of platforms (hosted, self-hosted, SAAP, IAAP, whatnot) and it all depends on how well you master these. I fear you'll have to break down the problem into more bite-sized pieces and try to solve those. If you have questions about those more isolated problems, you're always welcome to ask again.

Have a look at this related question: superuser.com/questions/30088/… Given that that question is closed as not constructive, I fear I'll have to close your question too

It would probably be more productive to figure out how to fix your current solution for the latest version of Chrome, rather than looking for a possibly non-existing solution.

May I point you to Greenshot, which is an excellent free and open source screenshot taking program that has most features you'd want out.

comment How can I prevent my computer from waking up accidentally?
Given that I can still wake my computer by clicking on my mouse, even though I disabled it, I think your answer must have been what solved my problem. So enjoy the bounty :-)

comment Run Windows Store Apps in a Window on the Desktop in Windows 8?
Does this allow you to run multiple Metro apps in different windows? Also does this simply access your currently installed Apps or do you need to install apps within the simulator?

comment How to change the download folder of Internet Explorer 10 under Windows 8?
Well @goldenparrot I looked through the Options and with Chrome I'm used that there's an easily accessible option to change it from there. With Internet Explorer settings are all over the place. Some are under Options, some under Windows 8 Settings (like language and autocorrect) and others are apparently context-sensitive, like the Download settings. I should note that I don't rely on the download manager, so I didn't even know there were options

I checked the Power Options, they were all turned off in my case. I also checked the Schedule tasks, but the check boxes are all ticked off.
