comment SATA III vs. SATA II…getting two different pieces of information
@Twisty - Going into the BIOS is what did it. Told me exactly what was connected to what. (AKA, Samsung SSD 850 EVO connected to SATA II, Blue Port). Switched it to the right ones - awesomeness. Add your above comments as an answer, and I'll accept. Thanks!

@Twisty - I did, but I didn't see anything that specified one way or another. What's the best way to tell?

Thanks for the explanation! Tried out the fan control yesterday and it seems to do the trick. Ran at a cool (but slightly louder) 48 C. Thanks!

That's a good suggestion. Thank you. A quick question I would have is - shouldn't OSX already handle spinning up and down the fans as necessary?

@Ramhound - I updated my question. I wasn't clear. The laptop ONLY gets hot running Windows 7 in a VM. No other time.

@Ramhound The machine is brand new. Like...two days old brand new. And, I will be traveling with this machine a lot - can't have much (anything external). And, won't open it up so I don't void the warranty.
