comment Why does my Laptop choose the weaker of two Access Points with same SSID?
I'm running wavemon on the laptop which does provide me with all the data I need. Thanks for the pointer, though. I added the dBm for clarification.

I was referring to the signal to noise ratio which we laymen interpret as "signal quality". The AP in my office had the far better (above 70%) ratio over then one in the next office. I don't know the dBm by heart but will gladly fill them in on monday.

Even when forcing the Laptop to connect to the 2nd (better) AP by turning the 1st one off for a bit it switched back again the second the worse one became available again :-/ We could actually fix this behavior by changing the 1st AP's channel. Seems like Ubuntu treats it as a new connection now and stays with the better AP.

comment Multiple access point with same SSID but all connections goes to only one access point
I'm using wavemon under linux to see how strong which access point is received. You need to run it with root priviliges to be able to use the scan feature.

Fullscreen flash videos run smooth in firefox. Seems to be yet another Chrome problem.

comment Why does Skype on Ubuntu need the mysql-common package?
It is not installing a mysql server. The package only contains common stuff needed by the client: "This package includes files needed by all versions of the client library, e.g. /etc/mysql/my.cnf."

Ok, I fixed the first problem: Deleting ~/.pki did the trick. Seems like I botched installing a certificate using certutil.

@Ramhound Any quick fix you may offer? Reinstalling ca-certificates did not help.
