Would have agreed 5 years ago about dual booting for software compatibility. Today, though, most of the windows software I download installs and runs without issue on LM. I occasionally need to set up a new prefix but that's a small price to pay compared to the cost of Windows+antivirus.

It has come to my attention that I might be a moron. While following your advise I inadvertently triggered the onscreen keyboard. Forgot about the accessibility tools. Lol thanks

comment My graphics card temperature is always the same?
Yes and this is why I used the term "much change" as opposed to "no change". If you're expecting a double digit rise in degrees Celsius based exclusively on cycle frequency then perhaps one of us is ignorant of the topic at hand. It's not as if I have a masters from MIT or anything so it could certainly be me.

comment Bluetooth hardware not detected in HP 4540s
I would imagine that Dave M is correct but the spec sheet doesn't list Bluetooth as "select models" or "windows 7 only". Seems like it should have either a broadcom or intel adapter. h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/sm/WF06a/…

Is the rice still consumable afterwards, either as food or as a homeopathic remedy? Just curious.

comment IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE since Windows update
If I had to take a guess I would say that an update conflicted with one of your hardware drivers but that's pure speculation.

Do what Ramhound just said. The hex code in parentheses next to the 0x0000004a should supply the current IRQL but I'm a GNU guy so I'm not much help there.

This indicates that a thread is returning to user mode from a system call when its IRQL is still above PASSIVE_LEVEL

comment How should I know what's the quality of an SSD drive?
It should list the data transfer rate of the drive somewhere. If it's a 7mm it's likely around 500 mb/s max. I might add that these transfer rates are a tad misleading as they don't account for the lag created by accessing smaller individual blocks of the ssd.

@david I'd always assumed PSU was a recursive acronym like GNU. Thanks for your clarification.

He needs 400 watts, 1 gig of ram and an x16 lane, all of which he appears to have.

comment Why is Windows showing space being used but there are no files (9gb)?
Windows 7 takes up about 20gb at a minimum although you could in theory squeeze that down to about 12gb. With that in mind I'm going to assume he's using windows 95 and has a virus.
