In that case it may have been an option on the vista driver that has not been translated over to the win 7 driver or an application that was present on the manufacturers install, some kind of interface program that would have given the fn keys functionality as well as provided the CPU scaling. When you upgraded to win7 this program was not included. Same thing happened on my Asus laptop but with the camera quick keys not working anymore.

comment Prevent specific applications from being run as administrator
Changing the environment variable is a bit of a mission, its going to require creating a simple exe to replace the original that contains a simple call to the real executable with the RUNAS command included. like i said, bit of a mission you could just copy the address that the browser window launches with and then close and relaunch the browser and type the address in

well if you wanted to do it that way you would change the environment variable for your browser to include the RUNAS /trustlevel command then the browser will always launch in the selected trust level, its unlikely that you would need to ever run the browser in an elevated situation... worth a thought

comment How can I disable persistence undo in Vim 7.3?
Pressing U should step back through the edit tree. like ctrl and z in word. I'm not sure I understand, if you press U is it doing too much in which case are you sure you have the undo buffer active?

I agree, I'm not sure it needs all your log-in details, I think just your username but it sounds dodgy so while in the interest of full disclosure I have referenced it, I wont post a link to one as showing preference could suggest endorsement which I do not.

comment Why is Firefox's cache empty after an improper shutdown?
Under bugzilla this post bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105843 has this exact problem marked as wontfix because if mozilla cant detect the shutdown reason, it deletes the cache just in case. "This is by design. The cache is primarily an optimization. Rather than add a bunch of extra code to verify it and fix any potential corruption, we toss it and start again."
