comment Windows date reprensentation
@Erick: that looks like CTIME, not FILETIME. FILETIME is into crazy numbers. Right now is: 1247703464 in CTIME and FILETIME for right now is: 1289217709140600000

comment Consolidating network devices to save on power bills
Meh! Party pooper! It just offends me to have these heat generating devices sucking power all day long. Do you really think it is only 10W between say three power bricks, instead of two?

No wait, I see I totally misread your post. My bad. I see that I did not really answer your question with my answer. Hmm, how to edit it to make it a better answer...

Ah, perhaps you mean Patch Management then instead of Application Management. Silly distinction, but of course important!

comment CPU Cores: The more the better?
The other issue to consider is front side bus performance. With so many cores, so much memory, and such large programs, access to memory becomes critical! If the CPU has to fault to get to main memory, it will hurt performance. The more you multitask, the more likely this is too happen, regardless of how obscenely large on chip cache gets.

+1 for multi-monitor goodness! I have a friend who does commodities trading, running with 6 monitors. They have some very cool multiarm structures for this. Alas, not that cheap. Might exceed the 'because I can' boundary of costs though.
