I mostly work with Novell/NetIQ Identity Manager, an XML based product that use XSLT, XPATH, and DirXML Script (its own XML based language).

I have written a book on the topic of the DirXML Script language.

Thank you! I could see a difference, it was subtle, but could not put the change into words! Your explanation makes great sense!

comment Unable to add Automount entries on MacOSX using Directory Utility
@NedW. So looking at the namingContexts from an ldapsearch -x style event, what do you see in terms of DN's to use, and does your real DN look appropriate? Do you have a DN of cn=automountMap for real, as a child of your root domain? I.e. Your LDAP add adds objects into a cn=automountMap container, but does that actually exist if your browse it via LDAP?

comment How mSSD Hard Drive Acceleration Cache improves performance?
@Hugoagogo The key point is, that if your machine has an SD Card reader, you can pop in a $5 4GB SD card (get a Class 10 if you can, unlikely to be $5 at that point) and get a performance boost right away. Of course an SSD is faster, but also costs a lot more. And to get a benefit would require moving stuff or reinstalling.

comment Resume from Suspend comes back Locked now, what could have changed?
Good ideas all of them, I considered them all. Only thing applied in that time frame is Adobe update, but no reboot yet. Windows Update is nagging me, need to do those. No programs installed recently. No Screen saver changes, and no difference in suspend/resume patterns. Happened when I shut down on the bus and resumed when I got in the house 10 min later, and when I shut down for the night and resumed in the morning. Odd. And now it stopped. Odder.

Still no matching setting that I see, all are not configured. I am wondering what specific policy might apply this change.

comment Resume from Suspend comes back Locked now, what could have changed?
@sblair Nope, I am not asking how to turn off the login, I want that to remain. Rather why did the behavior change suddenly on me. That always makes me wonder.

comment Resume from Suspend comes back Locked now, what could have changed?
Oops, maybe I was not clear enough, I will go back and clarify the question as well. I do not mind logging in. What is different is that the before, I resumed to a password prompt. Now I resume to a screen showing account locked, click, and then at a password prompt.

comment Reinstalling windows 7 on an SSD drive
Is the old drive still attached? Is it booting off the old drive not the new one? PS: Love my SSD with Win 7. Huge performance boost.

comment How can I determine and set my primary graphics card?
I think it knows to switch which card, based on demand? 3D games should use the NVidia, and most everything else should use the much lower power Intel built in video.

comment Is it possible that solid state drives (or any faster drive) will make common applications faster even if they are cached?
@cp2141 A good point about write limits...

I think he meant App virtualization, not OS virtualization.

comment Memory consumption of 32-bit apps on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Good point on Free vs Available (+1 but not the answer I was looking for!). But I have been looking at the Available number. Currently running at 4GB Used, and 4GB Available. Only 343 MB free.

comment How much speedup does a hyper thread give? (in theory)
@Konrad: I think the point I was getting at, is the difference between one core and two cores might be more valuable than the difference between 4 and 8 or 2 and 4. I.e. Having a second core, for a poorly threaded app might help a bit more.

comment How to specify LDAP user name for connecting to Active Directory?
Be aware that your login name in AD is sAMAccountName usually. So ken. Whereas your CN depends on how the person creating you typed in the display name at create time. That might be Ken Smith or Smith, Ken or Ken J. Smith or actually anything they like. (Also recall that periods and commas need to be escaped with a backslash, so it might Smith\, Ken J\. as the value.

comment How can I fill (not replace) TAB with Spaces in MSWord?
@Daniel Beck: I see, I was not suggesting one tab with one space, but rather one tab with many periods (I did not notice the dots represent spaces). However, my notion will not work, for a different reason as I was suggesting a fixed number of tabs, and he wants it alighned still but with spaces instead of tabs. Oh well.

comment How do i reformat my Macintosh?
Then format it as NTFS, then HFS, then FAT32, and you stand a better chance of the data being much harder to retrieve.

comment I have to export the data from an HP Vestra 05/20 computer. How can I do this?
@afrazier Very true! I am curious how a USB-ATA adapter would handle that.
