comment How can I enable PAE on Windows 7 (32-bit) to support more than 3.5 GB of RAM?
It might work on some 32-bit Server versions but not on Windows 7. Check here: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/… Your only option is a 64-bit re-install.

@Kush - the only fix is to back up your files and then install Windows 7 64-bit.

@richard - the address limit includes address space needed for other hardware, most notable graphics cards which can eat up a lot of the 4GB.

comment Is cross over and twisted pair cable the same thing
Sometimes they can be, it depends on the ethernet port. Some ports will automatically configure themselves to work appropriately as part of the auto-negotiation process. homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/…

I don't know of a way to force DIR to only match long names which is why I suggested using FINDSTR to filter the output of DIR instead.

Unfortunately I'm using Window 7 for which you can get only the new Windows Live Movie Maker which doesn't seem to support GIFs.

@ck - Forgot about drives, sorry. It's probably easiest to use CD /D. Have edited the answer to reflect this.

comment port 80 was blocked
If there is something already listening on port 80 which you weren't expecting it's probably Skype. Skype grabs ports 80 and 443 unless you tell it not to.

comment How to close all open windows at once?
Win+D is the keyboard shortcut for Show Desktop to minimise all windows. Win+D a second time brings them all back.

@warren - It worked on my Windows 7 RC system. I don't have a Vista system to try it on but I presume so.

Essentially all a GP does is update some Registry Keys. This tool allows you to edit the same keys directly.

comment Effects of listening to music always in MP3 format
@simon - Dynamic compression is processing which reduces the quality of the audio. So as an example of how listening to lower quality audio doesn't mean we can't spot better quality audio I think the comparison is fair.

comment Effects of listening to music always in MP3 format
Would like to see the original article; I'd try to respond directly to its claims then. Not sure I'd be able to find many articles saying "Listening to MP3s won't make your hearing less accurate" since in my opinion the original claim is such obvious nonsense.

A "pass-phrase is > 21 characters" is only possible with 256-bit WEP which is not standard and only supported by some vendors.
