Windows 8 Pro clean install - everything slow; hard drive at constantly at 100% I used HD Tune to do a full scan of the blocks, and got that 0.6% are damaged/colored in red. For the SMART-results, what does the number "231" in the "data"-column of reallocated sectors mean? What is the size of one sector? I read that this means the hard drive is not in a good condition, but could still be operating for some time, and my problem could be caused by something else? Anyway, a new SSD was already my thought for some time, so I guess I'll replace the HDD. |

Windows 8 Pro clean install - everything slow; hard drive at constantly at 100% Well, the release preview of Windows 8 ran perfectly on this computer for over a year, and Win 8 download drivers by itself, and as far as I can see, it downloads the correct drivers and keeps them updated. |

Does a system itself have a specification whether one should use 32 or 64 bit? It came with Vista 64bit, and I only used 64bit systems since then, including now. And the Release Preview worked perfectly on it until it expired on the 15th. |

Windows 8 Pro clean install - everything slow; hard drive at constantly at 100% hmm, I cannot find that; according to Microsoft, that's how task manager worked in Vista: windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/… Clicking on View gives only Refresh now, Update Speed, Group by type, Expand/collapse all, status values; and I could not find anything to display what you mean. |

Establish direct cable connection between Windows 8 PCs in home network The TCP/IP-settings are auto on both computers for the wireless network, and for the ethernet, the IPs are 192.168.0.2/3, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway and DNS server adress are left blank. |
