comment DMA issue, keyboard about to die?
@techie007: I made a test without the keyboard and actually works without displaying the error. So I imagine is that. The strange part is that the keyboard keeps working.

I didn't test without keyboard but the o.s. was originally installed on the o.s. with the DMA issue, so at least all drivers for this system are installed (but yes, I've installed drivers for the other system too).

This sounds good. If I have an o.s. crash I can also just reinstall linux over an hard drive and overwrite all data with rsynced data, I think it works in that way too.

Thanks a lot, just one question: what if I rsync the entire debian o.s. will be easy to just copy it back to a new drive to have it up and running? Dd is not an option for debian because there is my home directory in the same partition, and I want it to be synced ALWAYS (yea, not a weekly backup with dd, I would like to make daily backups, same for /etc and /opt directories).

No sorry, I use windows for gaming so VM can't replace it for obvious performance reasons :(

comment Partition suddenly became empty, any way to restore it?
Thanks a lot, at least I can try running tests for a week and see if something breaks.

Can't it happen also for a software issue? At least if there is a chance, I know I should make some tests before just "discarding" the HDD.

I was able to run all the commands, the problem was that the MFT was too corrupted for that. And I didn't hear any "failing sound" on the HDD.

@Ramhound: Any greater way to check if HDD is failing? SMART data looks okay and I didn't lost any file (I actually have just copied all of them on a new drive).

chkdsk /r D: didn't work, I'll try with fixboot and fixmbr, but as I stated the problem is with the MFT, not the MBR.

Thanks for suggestion, I'll test with chkdsk /r before it, anyway I'm quite sure I corrupted in some way the FS (I was downloading an avira rescue cd while shutting down), I'm quite sure the HDD it's fine, it's a chain of events that brought me to the FS corruption. Anyway I'll monitor it.
