Yeah, it's the embedded Xinerama in TwinView, but like I mentionned in the original question, I tried it and it doesn't work. I think Gnome overrides it.

@RobertHarvey: SurroundView is actually a technology from ATI, not nVidia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATI_Hybrid_Graphics#SurroundView

linuxselfhelp.com/howtos/Bash-Prompt/Bash-Prompt-HOWTO-6.html : This place seems to refer to ANSI Escape Sequences, which would imply there is some sort of standard. Is what is listed there pretty much supported on all (modern) terminal emulators, and is that list complete?
