comment OS 10.7 Lion a resource hog? Help on RAM issues
Got my new 8 gigs of RAM installed and it runs like a dream now. I'd say that either updating RAM or the HD would have really fixed the issue for me, but RAM was the cheapest at $50 for 8 gigs of G. Skill.

comment OS 10.7 Lion a resource hog? Help on RAM issues
Excellent advice, and I have a feeling that the hard drive and ram may be my main issue. (also, the co-worker has an SSD) On that note, I bought 8 gigs of RAM for less than $50...can't see a reason not to make that change at all. Going to stick with the 5400rpm drive for now. Thanks for the advice on the Parallels settings too.

That very quote you posted is what made me realize that going down the NAT route wasn't possible for me. Not sure if I can convince our network admin to switch to SSTP just for me but who knows.

I thought it might have something to do with the address as well, and have done countless release and renews. I THINK that occasionally when it decides to work it's because of that, but it happens probably 1 in 50 tries so there is obviously something else going on as well.

I have watched Activity Monitor and the only high resource applications I have seen have been the programs I would expect (Parallels, Steam, etc.)

comment Vim user considering Sublime
Mainly because these sites are getting more popular, and different people are gaining abilities that give them the power to change things, but they don't necessarily all agree on a specific way to run things. I.E. the more popular it gets, the more fragmented the standards get.

I use Sublime for Windows (and love Textmate on Mac) and Sublime is pretty good. It doesn't feel as extensible as Textmate, or at least not as intuitively but I have no real complaints about it. I am not a VIM user though so I can't tell you what you would miss from VIM, other than having to use the Mouse more. :)

comment Windows 7, Mapped network drive permanent disconnect?
the first part removed it, but the 2nd part says it can't find that registry value. Haven't had a chance to reboot yet (too much work open) so I can't test if it got rid of it completely, but thank you so far!
