Always looking for fun projects. Most important is the problem, programming language and device is secondary.

@Ramhound Nice point about remote client. Oddly, powercfg remains giving the same output and the PC is not going into standby. Probably the recently has also something to do about it. How long recently is remains a mistery. What makes it even more strange is the fact that powercfg -requestsoverride DRIVER \FileSystem\srvnet system has allready been executed a few months ago.

This is a nice find, but I wonder how "safe" this is? What are the dependencies?

comment How to use BCDEdit to dual boot Windows installations?
About Windows Boot Manager: Windows Boot Manager is basically a mini-operating system that controls your boot experience and enables you to choose which boot application to run. There are various boot applications (for example, Windows Boot Loader) and each one does something different. For example, a Windows Boot Loader application loads Windows. [...] For example, if you have two different versions of Win7 installed on different partitions, you will see two Windows Boot Loader entries. (taken from here)

@snayob, I value your answers (+1), but Motorcycleboy does go in a bit more detail about commands after one creates the bootentries. Now, something that is missing in this whole discussion is what the equivalent command in bcdedit is for bcdboot e:\windows (see here for the question)

What if the original machine is no more? Is there any way to run sysprep from Recovery Console? When I try, I get that "actionqueue.dll" is missing. Even if sysprep can find the dll, it generates errors and exits.

comment Changing SkyDrive Default Location to a Network Location (W8.1)
I also verified with SkyDrive Client that use of symlinks (pointing to network locations) doesn't work. The files never get synced.

Same with a network path like \\server\share\username. Seems like MS doesn't want you to map a SkyDrive to a network location. If you did that, then it could be used in cojunction with Offline Files (and that might cause problems?). The info "[..] or an other computer on the network" is misleading in any case. You could try syminks and junctions also, and see how it works with them.

comment What is keeping my PC from sleeping?
The fact that \Filesystem\srvnet often prevents the system going stanby is correct. But setting Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service to disabled in the services MMC doesn't get rid of srvnet blocking standby. So I am a bit confused...
