comment How to proxy shared internet
I'm trying to troubleshoot my apps that are running on Android. It's running a bunch of different ad networks' SDKs, so I want to find out what they're doing, if anything. But the Androids I have won't allow a proxy unless you root the phone, which might invalidate the test.

You can set up a web proxy on OSX in System Preferences > Network > choose your network > Advanced > Proxies

comment Odd domain switching behavior in Firefox and Chrome
@Arjan They have different IP addresses, but the same domain name. So I'll change my hosts file to reflect the new IP address for the same domain. Does that make sense? We're not sure that that's the best way to switch environments, but that's what we have implemented atm. If you have a better way of doing it, please share! I'd love some feedback.

I think this is a valid answer. You should move this to that section to get some reputation!

Well, that's the kind of answer I was looking for (not the weird part about Apple's bad rap, but the part with the suggestion to find an alternative). Coming from Windows, I can't believe I didn't think to look for a Finder alternative! That's so silly of me. :P

Thanks, but I already knew that. It's an okay way for me to display the files in the Project Pane, but I don't want that to be so wide all the time. If I had a scrollbar, I could just scroll over quickly then back again.

Thanks for the info, but your post doesn't address my question. I want to display the long filenames on the Desktop, not Finder, as indicated in my question title. Also, while I agree that Apple has a nice design aesthetic, I, the consumer, should have the final say. Apple can recommend that I adhere to their icon/text/grid sizes, but I should be allowed to go beyond those restrictions so that MY computer behaves the way I want it to so that I can efficiently use it.

I know that changing the icon/text/grid size allows for more text to be displayed, but I don't want to change those settings. I want to change how it displays the text; that is, to get rid of the ellipses altogether and go with a multi-line display.

comment Disable option never goes away for network adapters
So, I did test whether I was actually connected the internet by pinging a couple of websites. When I disable the first time, I am actually disconnected from the internet. Thanks, though!
