comment How do I fix these strange messages in my Mac's log?
Have you already tried any steps to remedy this? when I google the first line of the error message you have there, I am seeing lots of good troubleshooting advice - reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20068791-263.html, reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20014735-263.html, discussions.apple.com/thread/2366172?start=0&tstart=0 etc etc

comment How to stop programs from opening my browser?
Don't have the time to turn this into a full solution, but maybe this will get you looking in the right direction? superuser.com/questions/578439/… I think what you want to do essentially is change the "open URL" behavior to no longer just open the default browser, which is similar to what this question is looking for. A thought though, do you also want to invalidate any and all URL's outside the browser on your PC? Because that looks like the path you are heading down.

comment MBR viruses: Is that really possible? What do I have to do to prevent?
for the AV issue - use a bootable live CD to search for malware. My personal choice tends towards TRK (Trinity Root Kit). By running your AV scan outside windows you can do the scan without the malware being executed, so it cannot do (as) much to hide itself. TRK also includes 5 scanners - use them all, as different AV providers are at different levels of catch up to malware devs
