I have been designing & building websites and online applications for a few years and have enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. I work mainly in php/codeigniter and various ecommerce systems but am starting to play with a few new toys lately - particularly excited about getting my teeth stuck into laravel.

If your not excited by the oracle that we call the internet there is either something wrong with you or you haven't been around long enough to remember the before time... an age of landlines, libraries and rewind buttons.

comment default file permissions for ftp uploads in ubuntu (vsftpd)
+1 Thank you for your suggestion. I have managed to create the effect I wanted by applying a umask to a user account that I have setup for ftp. I think the cron job approach would cause me problems as I am ftping directly to /var/www and it would overwrite any permissions I deliberately changed within the web root but it's an approach i hadn't thought of and may well come in handy for other purposes.

comment Windows 7 BSOD after using 'volume shrink' on SSD C:\
Windows boot partitions are flakey, ssd's are flakey, you messed with both man... double boo boo. I hope you get it sorted, but until you wipe the entire disk, repartition and re-install windows, you'll always be waiting for the next BSOD.
