comment Knock on a port to get service and version
I'm familiar with nmap and have used it often - but it doesn't do what I thought this utility did. However, the -sV flag for service versioning does essentially the same thing, which is nice.

comment I need to attach a monitor to this computer, which cable do I need?
Thanks @Fire-Dragon-DoL, I've had to deal with these a lot in a university computer lab. The uncommon interface does make it a bit of a pain to work with (people often assume it is DVI by its appearance). Having to buy a $25ish dongle isn't fun either :-)

dpkg and aptitude probably won't be useful since the OP is referencing missing rpm's

It would help if you listed what linux distro you are using. From your question we can only assume it is rpm based (redhat, fedora, centOS?)

Since he is troubleshooting his internet it seems he wants to verify he is connected to the ISP DNS server. It is unlikely he even has a DNS address, which is shown in the screenshot he shared

@rakib, please try running "ipconfig /all" as that will give you more details on the problem. You are essentially troubleshooting your internet connection, yes?

Thanks for the feedback, I'll keep LastPass in mind. It is mentioned quite frequently, but I've never committed to using it.
