comment What is iLivid?
Sorry, one shouldn't use SU for jokes. It just reminded me of an old sketch including the line (spoken by Gerald the Gorilla) "Wild!? I was absolutely livid"

comment How do I enable the .NET Framework 3.5 on an Azure VM created from a Windows Server 2012 R2 image?
Brilliant - this isn't quite the answer but it got me there. It turned out that if I ignored the large warning asking for the source directory and just click install it all worked. So you pointed me in the right direction, even if it was just-click-the-button rather than fix-your-DNS that was the key! Doh

comment Are microSD cards lockable?
It is an 'embedded' device I'm building, so this is useful. Since this is clearly a software answer you may want to get in quick and answer on SO too before the question's closed there.

I have also asked this on Microsoft Answers. I hope cross posting is OK.

comment How do you turn back on the menu-bar permanently having installed the emacs-starter-kit?
Thanks Drew, I ended up doing the same thing through M-x customize-variable menu-bar-mode as suggested in an answer to the issue I posted on their Github page

Apologies kobaltz, I realise that the screen-shot was added four days after the answer!

comment Windows 8.1 — disable touch screen?
-1. The question includes a screenshot of the control panel item you direct us to. As you can see there is no obvious way to disable the finger as input. I see the same as the questioner; on the touch tab shown in the screenshots, where would you "Disable use your finger as an input"?

comment Is there a way to save a Microsoft Word document so that it automatically opens in outline view?
Sounds great Mark, but when I set "allow opening a document in 'Draft View'" under Word's Advanced -> General option it has no effect on existing or new documents. They fail to open again in either draft or outline. Hopefully this works for others though

comment How do I type the backtick / Grave accent character on a (UK) Windows 8 touch keyboard?
Wow - I was looking under PC Settings -> Ease of Access -> Keyboard but after your comment I have rooted around more and under PC Settings -> PC and devices -> Typing at the end there is indeed an option to "Make the standard keyboard layout available" and with that turned on I can swap to the full keyboard and type ` into a text field like the surface's password prompt. THANK YOU If you copy that over to an answer I'll mark it as such.

I wasn't but checking there I too only see the options on the screenshot you referenced: on/off toggles for the on-screen keyboard, the sticky keys, toggle key tones, and filter keys.

I cannot see any - the control panel settings for the mouse and keyboard just give me mouse stuff, the regional settings have nowt.

I've added screenshots. As far as I can tell it is not there though I'm hoping that someone knows a sneaky way to type it on that keyboard.

This isn't as pressing as it was a few days ago (I've replaced the backtick in my password with another symbol) but I would like to know the answer, not least because backtick is useful for formatting stackoverflow questions and answers.

I need to know this for the screen based Windows 8 keyboard, so I have asked this again specifically about that keyboard: superuser.com/q/663134/166855

I deleted the FTP site and tried again. It now works, but I'm not sure why! If I find out I'll post it as an answer.

I've also asked this on SO stackoverflow.com/q/18713701/575530 Although it is not a programming question there are already lots of related questions there.

Fabulous. Can you see any way to rotate it 180 degrees to so that the end of each code listing is towards the tail end of the paper roll?
