comment Protect formatting in Excel 2010, and allow editing of text
Worked! It was the checkmark in the hidden that was the problem.

Thanks for your answer, and great screenshots however this did not solve my problem. For some reason Hidden was checked on mine already. Once that was unchecked it worked as I expected.

@AlexAtkinson hadn't had the chance to try it. It's at work and I am off today. If I get a chance I will remote in and try, otherwise it will be Monday. Thanks for your help, I look forward to trying your solution.

Unless I am missing something this worked for me. It greys out almost everything on the home tab, font, alignment, number, styles, etc.

This is what tried as well =COUNTIF('Classes I Teach'!$A:$A,$1:$1048576)

I tried adding the range and that didn't work either. It seems redundant because the conditional formatting already asks me for a range of cells to apply to.

Here is what I have =COUNTIF('Classes I Teach'!$A:$A,) what do I put after the comma for the range?

Yes and it said I had too few arguments. Can you break down what's in the parenthesis?

I don't want to count the number of occurrences. I have edited my question to make it more clear. (I hope)

@Shiki Yeah, I am dreading the day that it stops working. I depend on it daily. Microsoft's desktop search is what a coworker uses, I may have to try that as a replacement

@c0mrade I don't think there is a way to do that, I have three ports on my laptop one VGA, DVI, and S-Video, plus the laptop screen. I can only have 2 different displays up at the same time. If I have 3 two of them are mirrored. You need a USB video card to make what you want work.

comment How can I beam my Wifi signal across the street?
How far? Is there a clear line of site. Oh and just a thought, you might want to edit the question and take out the part about sharing with your parents as that violates most Terms of service with your internet providers. Something like. "How can I extend my wireless to another building x feet away?" The fact that your parents house is the building is really irrelevant to the question.

comment Media Player Classic with latest K-Lite Codec chokes on FLV
VLC has volume boost as well, I am not as familiar with media center classic, so you may be talking about something different. VLC volume control goes to 200%, but I'd like it better if if went to 11
