A complete geek who loves food and cooking, and blogging about stuff I've made.

By day I've been a support monkey, a project manager, web designer, web admin and a lot more. At night I play a lot of games and cook a lot of food.

I've had recipes approved by Jamie Oliver, and Heston Blumenthal reads my blog. My food blog lives at http://bigspud.co.uk

I also train and consult on Microsoft Office applications. We run the UK's widest schedule of MS Office training. Find out more at http://www.microsofttraining.net

comment Excel - How to count matches in data?
You also make it sound like this comes from analytics software. Is there no feature in this to help? Funnels or goals would help with this in Google Analytics for example.

comment Excel: Calculate pilot currencies
I know this is solved but the principle intrigued me: I thought there might be a way to employ the lesser used LARGE function, which can find the Nth largest value (in this case, 3rd). This array function (enter with CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER) seems to generate the names you need in C14:C16: =LARGE(IF((C6:C11=B14),B6:B11),3)+90

comment Excel leaving formula when selecting another sheet
It sounds like a second "instance" of Excel. It's easy to trigger this by opening workbooks separately from Windows Explorer. If the second file is opened via File > Open within Excel, this shouldn't happen.

Assuming it is URLs in the format above this is an awesome solution. Just watch out for tripart TLDs (e.g. bbc.co.uk or sbs.com.au).

comment Best way to insert big amount of data in excel sheet
There's a good chance it's a "SheetCalculate" or "SheetChange" event. To see this in the VBE click the ThisWorkbook object in the Project Explorer.

In Excel, drag the worksheet tab to the right or left while holding the CTRL key. Or copy all the data in the sheet, insert a new sheet and paste.

If you're talking about a single sheet, record yourself duplicating the sheet. This backup can then be restored quickly.

comment Excel formula to copy text from another sheet when data in sheet 1 matches
Everything about your suggestion works perfectly, I just wanted to offer a couple of improvements. "VLOOKUP also returns the closest match when the fields" - unless you add ",FALSE" to the end of the function. Furthermore, using IFERROR (Excel 2007+, there are ways round it in 2003 with =IF(ISERROR... ) allows you to mask the errors.
