comment 750Gig Hard Drive shows full with only 315Gigs used
this, and most other tools, won't show the actual disk consumption because of "Windows Side By Side" or winsxs, see superuser.com/questions/1/…

+1 for thinking of command line ftp! However wget and powershell were both mentioned well before you joined the party, so -1 there. :-/

comment What is the Windows equivalent of Wget?
why the downvote? this looks okay to me and is a direct response to the question. Yes it's clunky and could use improvement, like escaping ampersands (&) in the url, but it works as is.

comment How can I equate the same user on different Windows 7 machines within a home group?
this is true as far as it goes, but stops just where it gets interesting, for example how does one go back to old school sharing? The old school tools are either missing or disabled, for example Computer Management >> Local Users and Groups doesn't exist.

comment Win7 “net use” by ip address works, while computer name doesn't
I used $c as the example, but net use \\server\share fails too, only net use \\192.168.1.104\share succeeds. I don't have these difficulties on my other computer at work, however that computer is running Win7 Pro and is a member of an Active Directory domain. Perhaps this is an intentional restriction on Win7 Home Edition?

comment How do I browse fonts as files in Windows Explorer
that's curious, I've not encountered that. In any case, on Win7 sometimes using ip address (\\192.168.1.123\c$\...) instead of \\localhost or \\computer-name can cure some network access or share issues.

comment Why would my mouse pointer be jerky when it can't get a signal from my router?
Would this be for the wireless adapter of the WiFi or the mouse/keyboard?
