comment I am using windows 8. Ctrl and Alt keys not working
Have you tried using the keyboard on a different machine? Is it a hardware, or a software issue?

Ahh, okay. So, by default your server was set up to only listen to connections on the local interface. This is a safe practice when you are doing testing, as it disallows external connections to the server. Happy you are back up and running. Happy coding. :D

127.0.0.1 is localhost, and will always redirect to the machine you are using, so from the computer that is the server, this will work. From all others, you need to specify the physical IP.

An HTTP server by default listens on port 80. If you type an address into your web-browser, it will only scan port 80. You have specified XXXX, so I am guessing that means that you changed the default, to specify a port with a url, do the following for your URL. http://192.168.0.100:port/index.htm. The IP can either be assigned as static on either the router, or the computer, you should not do it on both. My suggestion is to do it on the router.

I actually found this quite useful, and have been using it in that mode for a while. Still not a fix, but thanks for pointing it out.

comment Linux (Mint) Equivelent of Explorer.exe on boot
I found that the xserver could be started with a specific initialization script, so I created my own init, and added an entry to /etc/profile to start xserver with my script, if my created configuration file could not be found. This scripts runs the jar that I require at boot, and from within my program, I can now change just a few things to resume normal boot to mdm.

It seems as if this is what I am looking to do. I will try this as soon as I am back in front of my desktop, and let you know.

Because I have no idea what puppet is, and I know how to do everything I need to do on Java. :D I need a stupid simple graphical interface that can do everything from reading bytes out of the MBR, to communicating with the server via https. Can puppet do all that with ease, and a relatively quiet learning curve?
