@carpetsmoker, easy there killer, as I said, this is not recommended. Also note that I said path to directory, not file, 777 on a directory can be okay, like /tmp, but files should not be.

comment What is www, what difference between www and normal http page?
You can even see this behavior with the example used, http://google.com, simply entering that in the browser will give you a 403 redirect to http(s)://www.google.com

comment Is there a way to detect the current workspace in a command line on linux?
what exactly do you mean by this? Like the FQDN? hostname would print out the name of the actual machine, or do you mean with like 4 spaces, which of the 4 you would be on?

In the beginning I think I just symlined my whole user directory, /home/me -> /cygdrive/c/Users/me. I was trying to get it to work the proper way :/

What is the output of echo $HOME in Cygwin? The ssh config will be loaded from ~/.ssh/config, which may be different then %HOME/.ssh/config.

comment WAN security and port forwarding for IoT
Generally, bots and bot nets will scrape known ports, SSH:22, TELNET:23, HTTP:80, HTTPS:83, etc... rarely will you become the subject of a target attack where all 60k ports are scanned. Each service expects the request to be made in a particular manor, so if this is not met either, we wont really know what we are talking to even if we do manage to connect to an open socket.

comment I am not able to copy 14.6 GB file to my NTFS volume
Right click on the folder, and click properties. What is the size of the folder you are trying to copy? There should be a size, and size on disk.

There are also services you can use which would circumvent this. See this.

comment Unable to send mail with the mail command
Mail between servers is still transported over port 25, and like you say, is blocked by some ISPs. I personally have my mail server running on a VPS because of this issue :/ You could request that your ISP unblock the port.
