@jjlin Because I usually want to run that script in multiple servers. When it's meant to be run in a single server only I just run Vim there and don't bother keeping a local file.

Thanks, but it's a good solution for a single server scenario only.

comment Non-interactive one-time ssh && scp for 100 servers
Make a habit of distributing your SSH public keys as soon as you receive access to any server through your life and you'll thank yourself forever. That said, when I receive access to large batches of servers at once I run: for s in $LIST_OF_SERVERS; do ssh-copy-id $s; done and put my password (plus newline) in the clipboard. Manual labor still, but goes by quiker, and, again will only need to be done once per server.

comment Is there a native OS X app like WorkRave?
The #1 thing I hate about stack exchange is how they keep closing useful questions about application requests.

comment Dropbox LAN sync - hint for an IP address
I know that's the point of UDP broadcasts, however, Dropbox LAN sync makes an assumption that only hosts in the same subnet are good. This is a very good assumption, but in that case, it didn't apply to me.

No, the netmask is different as well. We have several 10.x.x.x subnets with VLANs there, and direct communication is allowed. This is by design. I have switched jobs since, though, so this question is no longer relevant to me. :)
