comment Why does Firefox display images in the browser sometimes, and only offer to download them other times?
they allow you to check what the server operator did wrong (in case you operate the server and cannot link the files inline). If the server operator deliberately prevents you from showing the image inline (besides from tags) you cannot do anyhting about it except host the image elsewhere.

Where is the problem? works for me. You cannot link to the image inline because it sets Content-Disposition=attachment. Store the image elsewhere if you need to link to the image inline.

comment Configure Mouse Buttons for “Administrator”/Elevated privileges
the process behaves the same, it just cannot access window properties (or hook mouse events or send keyboard events like Ctrl or Shift) of a process that has more privileges than itself.

comment Why does Access report it can't receive a command to its program?
According to mydigitallife.info/2008/06/20/…, that tab was dropped in Vista. You could always do it manually in the registry: Look up HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mdb for its default value (say it is mdbfile) and then look at that default value (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mdbfile\shell\open\ddeexec)...

comment Why can't I copy all files to the root of an SD card?
it's only true for fat12 and fat16. fat32, ntfs and all the other modern filesystes do not have that limit.

fat32 instead of fat16 would also help since it does not have that limit (the root directory can be fragmented like any other file). Keep in mind that a "long filename" will in most cases require 3 or more filename slots, so that 512 limit on fat16 is more theoretical.

comment Emacs background is grey after upgrading to Snow Leopard
what do you get as result when running M-: (frame-parameter nil 'background-mode)? It should be "light" and not "dark" if your background is white.

comment Thunderbird: moving email from local Junk folder to IMAP folder yields “Message contains invalid header”
can you please press Ctrl+U on such a message and post the headers here or somewhere else? I am not aware of any nonstandard (malformed) headers that appear automatically in junk messages.

And which IE version? (IE8 deploys different security settings even for normal explorer...) And is the file on a network share or on a local disk?

how about sniffing to see what the difference is between the two browsers' requests?

comment Compressing with RAR vs ZIP
7z command line has a lot of great features, for example you can create reverse delta archives (i. e. delete all files from archive YESTERDAY that are the same in archive TODAY), or give different kinfs of masks. You cannot append the current date to the filename, but since the filename is from your .cmd file anyway, you can append it using cmd's date variable.

thanks, updated the part about badblocks, and rephrased the text about reallocation (I know they are only reallocated on write but maybe I did not make this clear enough in my previous writing).
