comment mount.cifs retries causes account lockout
Thanks for sharing. Interestingly, I saw your question while searching how to remove the need for users to practically have root permissions (or sudo, which comes close) to access smb shares. Currently we use smbnetfs with satisfaction (it was slow until tuned, now fine).

comment Disable F1 on xfce terminal
On Xubuntu 13.10 using xfce4-terminal 0.6.2. I created accels.scm with content above, not changing terminalrc, then closed all opened terminal windows. Then launching a new terminal window had the expected behavior: now F1 is passed to applications (e.g. mc).

comment How to avoid tilde ~ in Bash prompt?
Jirka's solution executes pwd on every prompt. Dennis' solution does not, just fetches environment variable PWD, which is much cheaper.

revised Transferring large files (1GB+) over internet, securely, one time only
Make title more precise by adding: "securely", "one time only". Also, "Large" is highly context-specific. Three questions marked "duplicate" were actually very different: 50MB, 1GB, 80GB are not the same "large".
