I'm an electrical engineer currently working as a software engineer and developer. Prior to that, I was a computer tech for 6 months at a independently owned computer store while I looked for an actual engineering job.

I'm a big gamer, with a lot of it taking place on the PC, but I also own a 360 and PS3.

I would still call NVidia, as they may be able to do something for you, but this lies outside the scope of 3D Vision for home users. Beyond the information I've already given, there isn't much more I can do.

So you're still using your existing glasses and sync transmitter? In that case, you're probably looking at a call to NVidia to see if you can get your existing hardware to work with their software. In the meantime, make sure that you have the NVidia 3D software installed. A download is available from their site.

Your application needs to tell the GPU that it needs 3D mode and the GPU will tell the monitor to enter 3D mode. Can you get any content to render in 3D, such as the stuff that came with the 3D kit?

Are you in a command line only environment? If not, why don't you open the file in something like gedit?

Have you tried copying only a portion of the files at a time? Does it always BSOD on the same file?

comment Need to connect laptop to an analog TV
If the Dell has any sort of secondary video out, it should be rather trivial to throw it onto an S-Video, composite, or component cable with the right adapter. Audio is as easy as picking up a stereo headphones to RCA adapter.

Why aren't you just reformatting the partition? Seems to me like it'd be faster and easier in the long run.

comment tips for removing stuck heatsink
If you support the heatsink (which should be the tallest item on your motherboard) then you should be fine. there shouldn't be any lines within about an eighth of an inch of the pin, so you do have some room to slip off.
