comment Both Windows and Event Ghost are handling IR remote commands. How do I get Windows to stop?
It seems this ins't a permanent solution, as Windows will re-enable the interface every time the computer starts up.

In case anyone was wondering, I also just took a gander through the Windows settings and couldn't find anything relevant.

Either I don't understand your answer, or you don't understand my question. I have the feeling that it's the latter.

comment port forwarding from internet to inner router
Unless you have a good reason to segregate the second subnet from the first, it's generally a bad idea to run a NAT enabled router behind another one. Even if you do need the segregation, there's usually better alternatives than a second router, for instance a virtual LAN, although that's not always possible.

comment Will “shaking” a hard disk damage its internal components?
@Pacerier: Nope. Various external cases and drive docks mean that each axis of the drive could potentially face up. Also, while desktop drives usually aren't used "upside down", laptop drives are frequently installed this way.

comment Limit the available RAM that a program/app sees in Windows
@selfmade.exe have you tried it yet? It might not be great, but I'm sure it'd be entirely usable. That processor probably does have the VM features as well (although the motherboard might not support it).

@selfmade.exe VMs can get pretty close to the hardware already, especially if you have a processor and motherboard that support virtualization features (which almost all current processors and most decent motherboards do).

@hdhondt I don't see anything suspicious, but here's the output from ipconfig.

comment Windows 8 cannot shut down, hibernate or sleep. It can only restart
It sounds like the motherboard isn't telling the power supply to cut power, which means the OS isn't telling the motherboard to shut down properly. That's not needed for a restart, which is why that works fine. Perhaps try rebuilding your MBR, although I'm not sure how to do that in Windows 8.

comment Only allow external PostgreSQL connections for specific database
Yeah, but that's not what the title says, which is the reason I asked. What you're really asking is "Allow external connections, but only for a specific database".

comment Only allow external PostgreSQL connections for specific database
I'm curious why allowing only external connections is preferential. It essentially means you can't properly administer the database from the server it's running on.

comment Connection to FileZilla FTP Server Works, but Fails Directory Listing
Is there anything different between the two clients? It's been a while, but I seem to remember something similar happened to me when using two different clients that supported different commands for directory listing.

It's no different than what Linux dual booters have had to do for ages.

Why aren't you using bootcamp instead? I suspect that would solve your problems.

comment Computer Freezes Upon Launching GPU Related Application
How powerful is your power supply? In my experience, that is the most likely culprit - your power supply not being able to feed both GPUs.

comment Nvidia 3D to 3D display
I'm not sure, not at my home machine at the moment. I believe there is some indication somewhere in the control panel that a connected display supports stereo 3D.

Don't know the full solution, but one thing to check is that the NVidia software correctly detects the projector as a 3D display.

I don't know of one off hand, but I'd check AMD's site to see if hey have one.

Does the hardware monitor show the temperature of the GPU? It may still be overheating without the rest of the computer becoming abnormally warm.
