Don't be fooled: Llamanerds is not my real name. I just prefer to stay anonymous online.

comment Writing formula in excel 2010
Why don't you just create a new sheet for each month? When a new month starts, you create a new sheet, perhaps titled "Feb2014" or "2014Feb" or some such. Copy your formulas from previous month, and clear out the entered values.

That does have user account management information, but I don't see an auto-login option to enable.

In that case, you might look at this post: askubuntu.com/questions/24916/how-do-i-remap-certain-keys The second answer to the question looks like it addresses your problem.

comment Repair or Recover data from portable external hard drive?
Also, have you removed the drive from the case to ensure that the damaged components aren't part of the enclosure instead of the drive? Harddrives are fairly robust, and if the drive is not in use/spinning at the time of drop can often survive just fine. I would pull the drive first and try mounting with a different adapter/cable

Is the drive making any noises when you plug it in? Any ticks, clicks, etc.?

At least, I am assuming that this functionality is included in the Linux releases of OpenOffice, and not just the Windows version. If not you might try LibreOffice, which is basically the same product but with different licensing (IIRC).

comment Why won't my Windows 8 desktop icons show?
If all you're doing is modifying start up items, a better "diagnostic" is to launch msconfig and disable all startup items, then reenable them one at a time. You can use the same utility to disable services @ startup.

comment Windows 8 Stuck on Start Screen File Search
Have you tested this in another user account? You say it worked for a while after a Windows Refresh, but that doesn't touch any of your "user or Windows settings". Since it sounds like this problem is only happening for you, there may be a problem with one of those settings, and it might be useful to see if this problem is restricted to your use account.

Not a copy paste answer. I thought I had read the entire post, but apparently not.

comment How to disable Winamp agent in the taskbar?
I was pulled away from Winamp when I discovered MediaMonkey. I like it so much I have paid for the Gold version twice now (once for version 3, once for version 4). If you are growing dissatisfied w/ Winamp, it might be worth a look. FWIW, free version is very good too.

Sweet, a new terminal command to play with! I never knew about the stat command, but I will now abuse it in every way I can think of.
