I'm an Electrical Engineer with a lifelong love for everything electronics. Only happy when I build and code.

I've worked on and provide consulting for many embedded systems in both hardware and software roles, algorithm development, Wireless (WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS) as well as computer vision and Inertial Systems.

Who knows, you might be using a product right now that I was involved in.

My company Argenox Technologies provides Embedded system consulting for devices such as MSP430, PIC, 8051, Corte-M3, and Cortex-M4

comment What driver to get SD card read to work?
Are you sure you plugged that USB cable properly? Windows should try to install the drivers for it. Either it's broken or the cable is connected incorrectly (check device manager). Your question doesn't clarify whether any drivers were in fact were installed.

comment With 3GBs of RAM and single core processor, what would you upgrade first?
+1 for trying to salvage a tough one.

comment Why are processes in Windows 8 32 bit?
It's simply economics and the old adage of "why fix something that works". There is no advantage to 64-bit for iTunes. They don't need more memory and processing doesn't justify it.

comment How suitable might my loft/attic be to install a network router and switch?
Correct. I once went to an attic to lift some bags up there and it was easily 120 Fahrenheit (likely more). The circuit inside the router just doesn't have anywhere to exchange air.

comment How suitable might my loft/attic be to install a network router and switch?
Yes. What will basically happen is that it'll fail sooner. How soon? hard to tell. If it has temperature monitoring it might even refuse to work at some point (which is better than just slowly failing without saying anything).
