If it's simple HTTP authentication, just pass the username and password on the command line. I've done so successfully countless times. You don't need to set up cookies.

In my previous Mac OS X experience, doing stuff in Finder let me get around similar permissions issues. Can you run "su -" and get a root shell?

Windows 98 is as much an OS as Windows 8 or Windows 2012. Or linux, or Mac OS X, or OS/2. If you seriously don't think it is, you don't know your computer history.

For that card? It would appear so. Different cards may have different load times / timeout values. But it is normal for a boot to take longer if you've added new hardware.

VNC on linux actually runs a separate desktop session from the physical console. I'd like to see an answer to this one, too, that doesn't involve VNC, as my boss seems to be allergic to it, but I want a remote desktop session available to a CentOS 7 box.

Are the uid's for the user you're doing things as on the client and the user that owns the files on the server the same?
