comment Will a hybrid hard drive provide significant speed improvement compared to a magnetic drive for development?
I presume you mean the active portion of the DB, rather than the whole DB.

It can't be too much over and over though, because in that case the files would be in the OS's cache.

comment Can you have a class C IP address with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0?
Indeed omnibraid is correct. The class was defined by the leading bits in the address. started with 0 = class A (0-127, but 0 and 127 were invalid, so that left 1-126). started with 10 = class B, started with 110 = class C, started with 1110 = Class D, started with 11110 = Class E.

The IP class doesn't exist any more, and hasn't since RFC 1519 in 1993.

comment Where did my disk space go - small NTFS partitions on Windows 7
Not just slack, like Josip says above, the filesystem overhead is in play here too.

comment Making /home folders private in Ubuntu 10.4
it should be 711 /home/[username]. 'x' permission on a directory allows you to pass through, but not to read the files. Also, you don't really need the -R. Having no read permission on a top level directory really prevents you from accessing any files under it unless you already know the name.
