I don’t know of any repetition symbol (this is not vim). I use {NUMBER} to request a specific NUMBER of repetitions, see my answer.

Sorry, but as far as I remember . matches ANY character. Not the last one again. That means, that [0-9]. matches 5a and 7- and also 33. And you don’t need to escape : (it has no regex meaning). Therefore: Your answer is not correct.

At least with tigervnc (which is very similar to tightvnc) you can lock the ctrl and alt keys in the F8 menu. But not the windows key.

And if you do not have the libfaac encoder, just use this slightly modified command which uses the internal aac encoder: ffmpeg -i inputfile -b 567k -s 320x240 -c:v mpeg4 -ab 220k -ar 44100 -ac 2 -c:a aac -strict experimental output.mp4. You can find some more possibilities using mencoder and ffmpeg here. Btw. I didn’t want to compile ffmpeg myself, I just downloaded the static build from here.
