I put some default configurations in the ports.conf. It wasn't working because I tried to match *:80 when I was using <ip>:80 on my virtualhosts. Instead I had to create a separate default entry for each IP and it works now.

Updated again, I can access it using the IP directly but I don't know how to distinguish between different vhosts running different subdomains.

Great, thank you, I didn't know this existed. Might take some convincing to get the others using it but I think the fact that it's the highest quality coupled with the lowest latency helps massively.
