comment How to know if my BIOS supports UEFI?
The value I have for this entry is BIOS, however I also have an EFI folder in my C:\Windows\Boot directory, which according to Moab indicates a UEFI. These contradict each other!

comment HP 8150 laserjet smearing thick stripes on paper - what to do?
I had the same problem with this model of printer. After cleaning with a microfiber cloth and then compressed air, the cleaning page is what actually worked for me.

comment Why is the system32\drivers\etc folder not displayed in Notepad++ when opened as Administrator in Windows 7
Did you try right clicking on the hosts file and select "Open with Notepad++". This works if your goal is to edit the file.

comment How can I determine the IP addresses allocated by DHCP on a router that I'm connected to?
You could perform a DHCP exhaustion attack to see what range of addresses / how many it will give. A quick search shows that Backtrack linux and Metasploit support these.

comment Unusual incoming connection?
Is your VM running a web server? Port 443 is https. If you question the integrity of that exe, can you reinstall VMware and reboot whatever VM's you have running (if that's even the case)? If this is a home workstation behind a consumer router, nothing should even be reaching port 443 unless you are forwarding ports.

Have you peeked at your event viewer? Under system events there are sometimes clues as to what may be going on.

comment Prevent applications from opening browser
This reminds me of a man-in-the-middle type program I use with Excel 2010 to open new spreadsheets in a separate window. You associate the file type for excel with it and all the program does is hand it off to excel forcing it into a new window. Ярослав Рахматуллин is on to something with his comment if that dummy default browser only asked if you wanted the website opened and handed it off to a real browser. However as jnovack said this would get annoying very fast.

Found it under the folder properties > sharing settings. Thank you.

comment Duplicate emails from groups
It's POP3 not exchange, so someone else hosts it. It's also showing up in the web interface before the client downloads it, so it has something to do with either the company hosting the email, or the sender's outlook... still looking into this

comment Make Add Printer window resizable or larger in Windows
Good tool. I can tell when it hooks and I am able to use it, however, the particular "Add Printer" window that I wanted to re-size was unresponsive to this program! Thanks anyway, upvoted for still being a good answer.

You could try repairing the Office installation in your control panel.

comment How safe is port forwarding in general?
You need to have remote desktop configured on a machine for someone to remote desktop to it. It would also need to have a terrible password and the proper port forwarded for it to be accessed by unauthorized persons. Don't confuse this with remotely configuring a router through a web interface, a setting which would need be manually checked by the owner of that router.

comment How can I prevent Ask.com Toolbar from being installed every time Java is updated?
Along the lines of your answer, darkphader, a host file entry of 127.0.0.1 www.ask.com could work for an individuals computer.

comment Can't copy video from DVD
Handbrake sort of worked. It got to where the video was corrupted and recovered up until that point. At least I'm narrowing down on the point of corruption.
