First step would be: Don't use a residential/consumer level internet service.

Have you tried downloading a new copy of the ISO to rule out any corruption with the ISO?

comment Windows 2k8 ISO's download as zips
That's an ISO file. You just have your .iso extension associated with WinRAR. Just because the file association is different, doesn't change the actual contents of the file. It's still an ISO file - if you want it changed, change your file association on your workstation. So, let's get to your actual problem - what is the exact error message you get when trying to use the ISO file?

comment Does uploading reduce download speed in torrent?
If you are transferring over UDP, it is not reliable (by design) so there is no acknowledgement. Torrent transfer will generally uses TCP (tcp/6881-tcp/6889) which will send ack packets as it is TCP. But your answer is unclear and implies UDP will have reliable transfer and ack's which is strictly a function of TCP and never on UDP.

actually, udp is connectionless and does not send ack packets.

Is this computer part of a domain? It's possible they have removed the option through policies..

comment Can the drives in a RAID 1 array be rotated?
Can also look at crashplan - If you want to look at swapping disks and letting your mirror rebuild all the time, i suppose that could work - problem is it's a manual process prone to forgetfulness or laziness.. I would agree with afrazier below that it would better to find a NAS that allows backup to external disk and take that disk into your safe rather than rotate drives in the mirror

You could look at something like Carbonite that provides unlimited backup for $55/year per computer.. won't solve the initial seed, but after that, might be worthwhile..

serverfault.com/questions/2888/why-is-raid-not-a-backup That being said, from your previous post, you are using the NAS as a backup device and what you are really looking for is a backup to the backup. Why not look to buy cloud storage (EC2/etc) from somewhere and host your NAS backup there?

what are you trying to accomplish with this? RAID is not a backup solution..

comment Is there a way to reverse a windows update?
i wouldn't call a system restore "easier". I would actually call it more work and possibly more problematic of a way to rollback a system update.

I loved beOS and was sad to see it go. Haiku is getting there but the last time I used it (although it was quite a bit ago) it just didn't seem the same.
