comment Terminal application that appends CR to incoming LF's on COM
Apparently the EOT char thing would require a program that gets the raw serial bytes directly from the serial port driver - of which there are a few, though they all seem to only work on pre-vista windows as far as I can see :(

@user88311 Just tried another 2.0 flash drive and got solid average 9MB/s speeds, still a bit low but MASSIVE compared to what the other drive gives, thought the actual Usb plug on this one is better also, the problem one is one of those that only have the base with the tracks on it... (I have no 3.0 devices yet)

3.3 v should be okay up to 3.5 (by normal CMOS logic levels) however the range you show doesnt seem to have a variance down to 3.30 or below i.e. it doesnt go below 3.39, so it may be considered a tiny tiny bit high, depending on the down stream tolerances. Other than that though I would not suspect the PSU as it would be more obv under load and you spec that it happens randomly with regard to load.

Normal idle for CPU on this sys seems to be 3-6% I do have one or two large applications on this sys (2 x IDEs) other than that though I havent got much else installed on it and I cleaned 95% of the crap-ware off as soon as I got it. Drivers all up to date...

E.g. it just took me over 10 minutes to copy a 10 MB folder to the flash drive - copying the same folder from the drive to the w7 machine took a few seconds :(

comment Cannot delete “hidden” table in word 2013
I may have to get a cat to do that ;) Afraid I cant post the document as it's IP sensitive (and v. large) I may just have to redo it from scratch in 2013 at some point as stupid things like this have been cropping up all over the place with cross-references/indices since I started with 2013 - Grrr 170 pages of retyping ahead...

But wait, there's a sequel! Now my automated list of tables index stops at table 9 - i.e. the one preceding where this problem was! throws laptop out window

for anyone else with same problem: once the styles menu is open, select the manage styles button, then select the relevant style (normal here) and click modify. Then select format->Paragraph.

Yup paper, my bad I could have stated that in OP. It's part of a formal thesis. From your link I may "Create a hyperlink to a location in the current document or Web page" and see how that works out... Ta

Thanks @Adam, for the definitive answer. I'll have to stick with the APA style throughout then as this is for a thesis. In this particular case though I already have an APA style citation to these two authors a paragraph or two preceding this sentance, so allowed that the informal style would be OK if it was achievable, as it makes better reading. Ah well.

@pnuts As per the question. Normal word inline citations are of the format described, for example the same sentence currently runs as follows: "Indeed, further work by many authors (Kim, 2008; Cagnon, 2002) has shown..." i.e. The citations appear as a separate item within the sentance, whereas I would like the citations to become part of the flow of the sentence instead.
