comment “Load average” stuck on 7.0
Hey there! We are running into this at Stack Exchange, believe it or not. Can you share with us what type of hardware you're using? We're experiencing this on Dell Gen-12 hardware. I've done some googling and it looks like people have run into this problem since 2004!

comment A synergy alternative that just works?
I just downloaded Multiplicity and I was so impressed with how well it worked I immediately bought the full version. This does exactly what I need.

Just tried share-mouse.com and it would not stop crashing. Not sure what's changed between when you guys ran it and now, but it's currently unusable between two windows 8 machines.

comment Cisco AM10 disappears from Windows 8 after a reboot
Hi @red and welcome to SuperUser! Unfortunately I gave up on it and bought a different USB dongle. I can't verify this answer myself as I've given the usb dongle away. All the same, this looks like the most likely answer so I'll toss you an upvote all the same. Thanks!

comment Is there a way to cause chrome/ie/firefox to reload the local “hosts” file without restarting the app?
@MatthewDoucette it is my understanding, however unverified, that the dns cache will persist until you fully close Chrome.

Thanks Andrew, I went to fix the URL but the interface wont let it become a hyperlink without the http; I'll talk to the devs about this but in the meantime it's demoted itself to regular text, so I just put it in code tags to make it a bit easier to follow.

comment Is there software for stress-testing computer displays?
This was as close as I could find. I really wanted something that was more of a stress test, but running the test loop at 1 second per display did do a relatively good job of redrawing pixels.

Chunky is right; sometimes you need to test a new server but don't want to change DNS anywhere where someone else might be affected by it.
