There are some inaccuracies in this answer. "Frequency, also known as sampling rate. More is better because you have more "samples" of audio being played back per second." - This isn't how sample rates work. If bit depth wasn't involved, data with 48khz sample rate could represent signals up to 24khz losslessly, and adding more samples wouldn't change that. More samples only influence which frequencies you can represent. Converting from 44.1khz to 48khz also isn't strictly speaking lossless, even if the introduced error is insanely small.
