As far as I know, "ditto" suffers from the same defect.

comment How to recover form information for a webpage in Firefox
This extension is a (very) nice idea. But it is too complicated. This extension proudly says that it "auto-saved text entered in any form". Does it save "contenteditable" user-entered data ? For instance, Disqus comments and Wikipedia WYSIWYG edits.

@and31415 - The stupid error message is : Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable.

I know this. This does not make note calls with brackets. Actually, for an endnote, this does not even make the note call with the ¹.

comment How to insert a scrollable block in Word?
@Charlie - I posted my question on Super User, not on Stack Overflow. The normal and common usage of Word documents is... editing them in Word. Not developing one's own application to edit them. To make this even clearer, I am going to slightly edit my question.

Primo, I don't like the idea of having ActiveX — it sounds like a disease. Secundo, I did not have a tab Developer in my ribbon. I customized the ribbon, to add it. Tertio, at your step 2., I get this insult message : This object cannot be inserted due to your policy settings. I was right do distrust ActiveX. Thank you anyway.

I had found an approach along these lines, but I discarded it.
