Thanks for your answer. I just did a clean install of mac lion and I was hoping to maintain a good condition of the system files etc. I hope you're right and it's just Xcode files.

@DanielRHicks, just wondering, are "cardboard spacers" just a flat piece of cardboard? Isn't that dangerous? Would it catch on fire? Are there any other materials that could be placed between two drives inside the case? Thanks

@echristopherson, They point to the same folder as the alias themselves: usr/lib. A few that has a bigger size (118bytes) points to: /System/Library/Frameworks/Accelerate.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/vecLib.fra‌​mework/Versions/A/libLAPACK.dylib
