comment How to TRIM/DISCARD a whole SSD partition on Linux?
@joe: Your ATA Secure Erase link doesn't even mention parititions. I don't want to erase the entire drive, just a partition. And I don't want to risk accidentally erasing the whole drive.

comment Log HTTP and HTTPS browser traffic, decrypting the latter
Firebug+NetExport work like a charm for me on Linux. They export SSL traffic unencrypted (just as I wished). I'd be happy to accept your answer, but please remove all other propositions (or move them to a separate answer) first.

Which of the tools you mention can save a dump of all logged communication to disk? httpFox can't. httpScoop is Mac-only, and I was asking for a Linux solution. httpWatch is Windows-only, and I was asking for a Linux solution. Fiddler is Windows-only, and I was asking for a Linux solution. Charles Proxy is Mac-only, and I was asking for a Linux solution. Thank you for mentioning Firebug+NetExport, that can potentially work.

comment Recursive filesystem notifications (inotify) for Ubuntu Karmic Koala
I need solution which is fast to load (at reboot) and doesn't have race conditions. My filesystem indeed has about 1 million files in 10000 folders. Thus iwatch and inotifywatch don't work for me.

comment How do I convert an SVG to a PDF on Linux
Thank you for your suggestions. FYI convert is not an answer to the original question, because convert rasterizes the SVG to a bitmap image, and the original question was looking for a solution which doesn't do that.

comment Where to get Google Chrome 12 for Linux i386?
I have Ubuntu Karmic. But don't worry about this, just give me a download link to i386 .deb of Google Chrome 12. I expect it to work on with Ubuntu Karmic.

comment Visual annotator for large images
Thank you for your answer, but it doesn't help me. I need an image editor, not an image viewer.

OCR wouldn't work, because only a small fraction of the area of each image is text -- most pixels are occupied by graphics. Images are black-and-white (bilevel). A single image is 37.5 MB uncompressed, and about 2 MB when compressed with G3 fax compression, and 3.5 MB when compressed with Deflate (PNG). With the newest consumer Intel CPU, it is still too slow (prediction: 30 seconds) to load the images to Inkscape, so upgrading the hardware to something which I can afford would still be too slow.
