comment Excel - working with multiple workbooks
+1 That definitely does sound like a more logical approach than opening 50 workbooks.

comment Running a router off Wi-Fi rather than Ethernet
It might still be worthwhile to find a cheap router on eBay or craigslist that IS dd-wrt capable, and use that. It would certainly be cheaper than paying for an internet subscription that you don't need.

Hahaha, one would probably be better off putting the SSD in their new computer, but man, that would still be cool!

comment Windows 7 alt-tab window disappears to back when aero peek is enabled
I'd seen that forum thread previously, but was hoping there might be a better solution. I guess it's just broken; thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately, I doubt a lawsuit would fix anything. Hopefully this will get fixed in SP1.

Have you tried asking your IT department about it? It's possible there's something particular with your network setup causing this which they may already be aware of.

SIW is definitely the most comprehensive tool for getting hardware info that I've ever seen.

comment Windows 7 taskbar as sidebar, minimum width fixed
Just a note, if you lock the taskbar, it won't show those grips, which moves the window buttons a lot closer to the orb.

comment Windows 7 alt-tab window disappears to back when aero peek is enabled
It's absolutely not a feature. See my edit with the screenshot of how it's supposed to work. The entire point of the feature is for the alt-tab window to be on top so you can see what you're switching between; having it obscured like that would defeat the point of having it.

Weird. Well I'm glad you managed to get it working, it's too bad they don't support it the right way though.

As I stated in the 2nd paragraph, yes I've seen this issue every once in a while on one of my other computers, but it would always go away after a reboot. On this computer the problem is always here. On a third machine I've never seen this problem. This is Win7 x64, the other two are 32-bit, but I don't think that should make a difference.

Glad that worked. If you figure out what was actually causing the problem in the first place, do let us know!
