Could you give us a link to the Microsoft article you followed the instructions in? It would also be useful to know if anything has been changed from between when things were working and when they weren't -- did you install any programs, change any settings, etc?

comment ALWAYS display the last / default user Windows 7 welcome screen
By the way, it says "Domain: MOSS", but that's just the name of my local computer. This is actually the default behavior on a domain (to prompt for username and password), but it is possible to enable it on a computer not joined to a domain. Should work in any version of Windows 7 or Vista, but I have only tested on Windows 7 Pro.

With regards to your bluescreen errors (even though they've since been potentially resolved), have you tried running MemTest86? memtest86.com

There may be a more direct way of automating this. What do those buttons do to the system? It might be easier to automate the effect of what those buttons do rather than the button click itself.

comment Want to have two screens side-by-side
I personally dislike that resolution on a 19", I feel like it's not a high enough resolution. You may feel differently depending on your preferences, but I don't like it. A note on how much screen space you actually get: 1440x900: 1296000; 1280x1024: 1310720; 1600x900: 1440000; 1680x1050: 1764000

Ok wow, looking around, it does seem like 1680x1050 19" monitors and even 20" monitors are exceedingly rare now. That's changed from less than a year ago even. A couple of 1600x900 19" will still give you plenty of room, and seems easier to find these days. All the manufacturers are going to these stupid 16:9 resolutions. Oh well, 1600x900 is still more space than 1440x900, which was the old "normal" for 19" monitors. You'll be fine with wallpapers; 1680x1050 used to be the most common resolution for 22" displays, and there's lots of backgrounds for it.

comment Firefox: Uploads which use Flash cease to function - Why?
Very odd. When you reinstalled firefox, did you have it completely wipe your firefox user profile? Does it do this on all user accounts on the computer?

comment Can I use a laptop as Second monitor
Synergy is a great tool, but just to clarify: it won't make your other computer a second display, it'll just let you move the mouse back and forth between the two displays, and you only need 1 keyboard. You're still using 2 computers at once.
