@ElliottFrisch even with a print server you'd still need some kind of driver. It's a tricky situation.

Also I'm confused - why not keep the 1 stick of 4GB RAM and get a second 2GB stick?

@user315388 you can't find any 4GB sticks at 800 MHz?

@MichałPółrolniczak I converted your answer to a comment because it's more asking for clarification than providing a solution. Now that you have 50 reputation points you can comment on any post.

comment Is there any 'sudo' command for Windows?
@barlop the whole point of UAC is that you can't run elevated without getting the user's permission. If you could just type elevate whatever.exe and have it run elevated, then it would be trivial for an attacker to run elevate nasty-virus.exe. It's an inherent requirement of UAC that confirmation occur somehow. It can't ask for confirmation in the command window, because the confirmation must run on an isolated secure desktop to prevent other software from injecting keystrokes.

@barlop of course not. That would defeat the purpose of UAC.

comment Does the length of Cat5e cable affect the network speed?
The best way to verify if the cable company is delivering the speed they promise is to connect directly to the modem with an ethernet cable and do a speed test. If that's good, then any slower speeds on your network are the fault of some component in your internal network setup. The cable company isn't responsible for what happens after the internet reaches your modem.

comment Force Close Processes at Shutdown
@David many programs will ask "are you sure you want to quit?" when you issue a shutdown or logout, and that interrupts the logout process by design. It's a valid question, and is not the result of any misconfigured program. It's expected but potentially undesirable behavior.

comment Force Close Processes at Shutdown
@Ramhound I just verified on Windows 8.1 that with a Notepad window with unsaved content in it, Windows will not force a restart. It'll just sit there waiting for you to do something. SnakeDoc is right, and this is a valid question.

comment Why are USB connectors different from RJ45/Ethernet connectors?
@Ramhound I agree that they have different purposes, but power over ethernet has been around for ages.
